Presentation styles for teachers (Part 1 of 3)

A teacher’s capacity and talent to convey their lesson play a crucial role in determining their effectiveness. There are examples of seasoned teachers who were unquestionably authorities in their fields but lacked the communication skills needed to share their knowledge and expertise with a class of students. The difficult craft of teaching requires many different presentational abilities such as the following good teaching practice.

In order to be an effective teacher, you must alter every facet of your presentation. It might get boring and cause students to lose interest if an instructor only uses one or two repertoire pieces. It makes sense to structure presentations into chunks of tasks that last around this long. Teachers must take into account different ways to use teaching techniques, voice, questioning tactics, student feedback, evaluation, teaching techniques, class size, etc.

Audibility. You must be audible to the class. To test your voice projection, practice speaking aloud with a coworker in the empty space. Not just shouting, expanding your voice is a strategy for ‘throwing’ your voice to the rear of the classroom so that everyone can hear you. Keep in mind that if the class is packed, you might need to raise the volume. Sometimes slurred speech or poor word pronunciation causes audibility issues. Make an effort to speak clearly. Aim for loudness variety that will help your message be understood. If pupils can’t hear you, encourage them to speak up.

Pitch. Pitch is the melodic characteristic of your voice that corresponds to how high or low it is. As long as it doesn’t become tedious or repetitive, pitch variation will increase the impact of your presentation. Be aware that anxiety frequently causes people to pitch themselves at extremes; many people adopt an ultrahigh pitch when they feel uncomfortable. Try to add emphasis upwards the sense is ambiguous and downward when the meaning is finished. The onset of a new idea can be signaled by a shift in pitch. Use inflection to emphasize points and to support your message.

Articulation/pronunciation. Make an effort to pronounce words correctly, using the right stress, tones, and sequence. Correctly shape the vowels and consonants that build up words.
